    Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) today announced that Pixomondo (PXO), its Academy Award, BAFTA and Emmy-winning virtual production and visual effects business acquired in 2022, will assume operation and management of SPE’s first state-of-the-art LED virtual production stage. Built by Sony Innovation Studios (SIS), SPE’s award-winning entertainment technology company, the LED volume is located on Stage 7 on the historic Sony Pictures Studios lot in Culver City.

  • Sony Pictures Entertainment Unveils Its First LED Virtual Production Stage

    Culver City, CA – October 6, 2022

    Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) today announced the establishment of its first LED virtual production stage located at Sony Innovation Studios (SIS), a division of SPE, on the Sony Pictures Studios lot in Culver City, CA. The new stage is the world’s largest using Sony’s high brightness and wide color gamut Crystal LED display panels, which were created in collaboration with top engineers at SPE for use in virtual production.

  • Sony Pictures Acquires Virtual Production Software Company Nurulize

    Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) today announced that Sony Innovation Studios Inc., a division of SPE, recently acquired Nurulize, a software development house which specializes in delivering creative realism and enabling virtual production of content. Nurulize will now be part of Sony Innovation Studios, a state-of-the-art facility that launched last year on the Sony Pictures Studios lot. The advanced software technology from Nurulize will further strengthen Sony Innovation Studios’ virtual production workflow for film, television, gaming and other platforms across Sony companies – and the broader industry – to help create a variety of immersive entertainment experiences.

    Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) today announced the establishment of Innovation Studios, Sony Entertainment & Technology, a state-of-the-art facility housed in a 7,000 square-feet sound stage on the Sony Pictures Studios lot. The space, which will be overseen by Glenn Gainor, President, Innovation Studios, and President, Physical Production, Screen Gems, will feature the latest in research and development from Sony Corporation and others in areas including volumetric video and customizable set scanning to help storytellers around the world create content for the future. Innovation Studios will work with engineers from throughout Sony Corporation and pursue business development opportunities for its proprietary technology in motion pictures, television, music and gaming.
